Ctenanthe Burle Marxii is a striking prayer plant relative, named after the legendary Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. Its elongated, pale green leaves are boldly patterned with dark green fishbone markings and flushed with deep purple-red on the undersides — a dramatic contrast that reveals itself as the leaves fold upward at night in their characteristic prayer-plant movement. Lush, architectural, and wonderfully easy to live with.

Care Guide:

Light: Low to bright indirect light — thrives in shadier spots where other plants struggle
Water: Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged; use filtered or rainwater if possible to avoid leaf tip browning
Humidity: High humidity preferred — mist regularly or place on a pebble tray
Temperature: 16–25°C; keep away from cold draughts
Feeding: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser
