The Nepenthes, commonly known as the Monkey Jar or Tropical Pitcher Plant, is a truly spectacular carnivorous plant. Famous for its hanging pitcher-shaped traps — each one a miniature ecosystem — this is a statement plant for any collection. The dangling, vivid pitchers fill with a digestive liquid to attract and trap insects, making it as fascinating to observe as it is beautiful to display. A true collector's piece that never fails to spark conversation.

Care Guide:

Light: Bright, indirect light — avoid harsh direct sun
Water: Keep the growing medium consistently moist; use rainwater or distilled water where possible
Humidity: High humidity essential — misting or a humidity tray is recommended
Temperature: 18–27°C; avoid cold draughts
Feeding: No fertiliser needed — the plant feeds itself through its pitchers
Soil: Carnivorous plant or peat-free sphagnum moss mix; never regular compost
