The Hanging Dischidia Nummularia is a wonderfully charming and endlessly delightful trailing epiphyte from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and Australia, producing long, cascading stems densely clothed in small, perfectly round, coin-like leaves of a fresh, bright green with a pleasingly fleshy, succulent-like thickness that gives the plant a wonderfully lush and full trailing display of considerable elegance and decorative appeal. Commonly known as the String of Nickels for its neat, circular leaves that line the trailing stems in a satisfying, rhythmic procession, it brings a wonderfully playful and charming quality to any hanging display, with the dense, coin-studded stems cascading in long, graceful curtains of bright, cheerful foliage. A close relative of the hoyas, it shares their easy-going, drought-tolerant character and makes an outstanding and thoroughly rewarding choice for hanging pots and elevated shelves.
