The Stephanotis (Stephanotis floribunda), also known as the Madagascar Jasmine or Bridal Flower, is one of the most exquisitely fragrant houseplants you can grow. Its waxy, pure white, tubular blooms carry a rich, heady scent that fills a room with an almost intoxicating sweetness — no wonder it's long been a favourite for weddings and special occasions. With its glossy, deep green leaves and elegant climbing habit, it's as beautiful as it is fragrant.

Care Guide:

Light: Bright, indirect light — avoid harsh direct sun but ensure plenty of brightness
Water: Keep soil evenly moist during the growing season; reduce in winter — avoid both waterlogging and drying out completely
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity; mist occasionally or use a pebble tray
Temperature: 13–21°C; avoid draughts and sudden temperature changes — do not move once in bud
Feeding: Feed fortnightly during spring and summer with a high-potassium fertiliser to encourage flowering
Soil: Well-draining, peat-free potting compost
Note: Avoid moving the plant once buds have formed — changes in light or temperature can cause bud drop
